Changwon Special City, Rejumping as a Child-Friendly City Where Children Are Happy

Regular Meeting of the Child-Friendly City Promotion Committee Held

On the 21st, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the regular meeting of the ‘2023 Changwon Special City Child-Friendly City Promotion Committee’ in the City Hall 3rd Conference Room to create a ‘Child-Friendly City Changwon where all children are happy.’


The city formed the promotion committee with 15 experts possessing professional knowledge about children, including Ha Jongmok, the 1st Deputy Mayor as the chairman, university professors, education support office officials, police station representatives, heads of child-related organizations, and parent representatives.

This meeting proceeded in the order of appointing the vice chairman, reporting the achievements of the 2022 child-friendly city promotion and the 2023 promotion plan, and reviewing the selection of the executing agency for the ‘Changwon City Children’s Council’ project.


This year, the city set the vision of ‘Respectful Children, Growing Together Changwon’ and will invest 353.7 billion KRW in child-friendly projects, an increase of about 23.4 billion KRW compared to the previous year.


The committee members had an active discussion time, presenting development plans for child policies related to 134 projects in six areas: home environment, safety and protection, participation and civic awareness, health and social services, play and leisure, and educational environment.


The city obtained UNICEF Child-Friendly City certification in 2021 and is focusing its administrative capabilities to achieve a higher-level certification by 2025.

Deputy Mayor Ha said, “A city where children live well is a city where all of us live well,” and added, “Together with the Promotion Committee, we will make this year a year of leap forward for the safety and healthy growth of all children.”
