Hyundai Transys Establishes 100% Subsidiary 'Tranix'
Integrating In-house Partner Companies... "Launching Within This Year"
Hyundai Transys, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group, is establishing a specialized transmission assembly subsidiary called 'Tranix'.
According to comprehensive reporting on the 22nd, Hyundai Transys recently approved the establishment of the subsidiary through its board of directors. It is scheduled to officially launch within this year. Hyundai Transys will hold 100% of the shares.
Tranix is a subsidiary created by integrating in-house partner companies responsible for the transmission assembly process.
This subsidiary establishment is interpreted as an effort to improve business efficiency. As of the end of the third quarter last year, Hyundai Transys recorded consolidated sales of KRW 7.4065 trillion. Operating profit was KRW 124.471 billion, representing increases of 23.49% and 9.8% respectively compared to the same period the previous year. Among these, sales of automotive transmissions amounted to KRW 4.8426 trillion, and seats accounted for KRW 2.5639 trillion.
Growth continues across business segments. Sales in the transmission sector increased from KRW 4.9136 trillion in 2020 to KRW 5.6333 trillion in 2021. The seat segment also recorded KRW 2.34 trillion in 2020 and KRW 2.5107 trillion in 2021. In the case of seats, sales up to the third quarter of last year surpassed those of 2021.
Hyundai Transys was formed through the merger of Hyundai Dymos and Hyundai Powertech. It was launched in January 2019.
The major shareholders are Hyundai Motor Company (41.1%), Kia (40.4%), and Hyundai Mobis (15.7%). The company produces automotive transmissions including automatic and manual transmissions, dual-clutch transmissions, continuously variable transmissions (CVT), and hybrid transmissions. It also manufactures seats used in most vehicle types, from compact cars to large sports utility vehicles (SUVs), electric vehicles, and purpose-built vehicles (PBV).
