"Congratulating the Opponent on Losing"
"Including Appearance Insults... Considering Legal Action"
After the nationwide simultaneous cooperative head elections held on the 8th, controversy arose when it was revealed that the daughter of a winner in Chungju, Chungbuk sent a mocking text message congratulating her competitor on losing.
According to Yonhap News on the 21st, Mr. A, who ran for the head of a Nonghyup cooperative in Chungju, Chungbuk, disclosed to the media on the same day that he had received "personally offensive text messages" from the daughter of the winner, Mr. B, on the 9th.
In the revealed text message, Mr. B's daughter opened with, "Hello. First of all, I sincerely congratulate you on your loss."

She described her father as "a person more honest than anyone else and who worked hard for Nonghyup," and said, "No matter how blinded by money and the position of cooperative head one might be, is that how someone who has been watched closely conducts an election campaign?"
She continued, "A person like you is not someone who should speak recklessly with such dirty words," adding, "As the saying goes, a black-haired beast is not taken in despite betrayal and ingratitude; even if you have lost all your hair, you will regret not only the cooperative head position but also your current actions."
She concluded the message with, "I sincerely congratulate you on your loss."
After receiving the message, Mr. A replied to the sender a few days later, saying, "I never spoke ill of your father during the election period, and if you spread false stories to insult him, I cannot let it go easily."
In response, Mr. B's daughter apologized, saying, "I was overwhelmed with emotions and foolishly could not hold back, so I apologize for speaking recklessly."
Mr. A said, "It is natural for the winner to comfort the loser, but I could not tolerate being mocked with even remarks about appearance, so I reported it to the media," adding, "I am also considering legal action."
Regarding this, Mr. B said, "I have not seen the content of the text messages," and added, "I understand that my daughter and wife have resolved the matter amicably."
