Attendance at Samsung Electronics Bespoke Life Media Day Event on the 21st
Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics (Head of the DX Division), stated on the 21st, "We will focus all our capabilities on expanding in the robotics field."
At the Samsung Electronics Bespoke Life Media Day event held at Community House Masil in Jung-gu, Seoul, Vice Chairman Han said, "I mentioned at the general meeting of shareholders that robots are another new growth engine," adding, "We are moving forward step by step in that direction."
He emphasized, "Samsung Research is working to create a Samsung robot platform, and the robotics business team in DX is actively engaged," and "We are preparing the EX1 product to be released this year."
He continued, "Many areas are being replaced by robots," and added, "We plan to concentrate all our capabilities in the robotics field to find new business opportunities."

Recently, Samsung Electronics has consecutively secured shares in the robotics development company Rainbow Robotics. On the 15th, Samsung Electronics purchased 4.8% of Rainbow Robotics’ shares for 27.78365 billion KRW. The company’s shareholding increased from 10.3% to 14.99%. Notably, on the same day, a new shareholders’ agreement was signed, securing call options (the right to buy shares at a specific price) on all shares held by the largest shareholder and related parties, leaving the possibility open for acquiring the company.
Rainbow Robotics was founded by researchers from the KAIST Humanoid Robot Research Center and possesses multi-legged walking robot platform technology. The company develops and supplies bipedal robots, quadrupedal robots, and collaborative robots, and was listed on the KOSDAQ market in February 2021. Last year, it recorded an operating profit of 1.3 billion KRW on a consolidated basis, turning profitable compared to the previous year, with sales increasing by 52% to 13.615 billion KRW during the same period. Net profit also turned positive, reaching 5.774 billion KRW.
