Dong-A University Wrestling Dominates Nationwide Again... Achieves 3 Consecutive Wins at President's Cup Tournament

41st Edition: 2 Gold, 3 Silver, 7 Bronze Medals and Overall Championship

Also Awarded MVP and Coach Awards

Dong-A University wrestling has once again dominated the nation.


Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 21st that its sports team wrestling club (coach Kim Ki-jung) achieved a three-peat victory at the Chairman's National Wrestling Tournament.


At the 41st Chairman's Tournament recently held at the Cheorwon Indoor Gymnasium in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, the Dong-A University wrestling team won the overall championship with 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals. They also received the Most Valuable Player award (Kim Kwon-ho) and the Coach award (Coach Kim Ki-jung).


Dong-A University has been at the top for three consecutive years since the 39th tournament in 2021. In this tournament, Kim Kwon-ho (F61-kg) and Cha Seo-hyun (F97-kg) won gold medals.


Do Dong-oh (F74-kg), Seo Woo-seok (F65-kg), and Lee Min-hyuk (F86-kg) won silver medals, while Shin Min (F79-kg), Hong Sang-hyuk (F125-kg), Yang Jun-wi (F61-kg), Chae Seung-hoon (F92-kg), Lee Joo-sung (F97-kg), Noh Byung-hwan (F65-kg), and Kim Sung-bin (F70-kg) earned bronze medals.

Coach Kim Ki-jung said, “I am very pleased to have achieved the great record of three consecutive wins at the first tournament of this year, and I thank the hardworking players, coaches, and school officials who supported us.”


Founded in 1963, the Dong-A University wrestling team is a prestigious wrestling program in South Korea, having produced notable athletes such as Yang Jung-mo, the gold medalist at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and the first Olympic gold medalist for South Korea after liberation; Son Gap-do, the bronze medalist at the 1984 LA Olympics; and Kim Young-gu and Lee Sam-seong, gold medalists at the 1986 Asian Games.
