Adding city funds, a total budget of 1.48 billion KRW will be invested to support the advancement and innovation of the eyeglass lens and towel industries, product development, market expansion, and marketing.
Through this, the city expects an expansion of market areas for eyeglass lens companies and diversification of profit structures for towel companies.
Currently, 64% of domestic companies related to the eyeglass lens industry are located in Daejeon, and about 50 related companies in the towel industry are also concentrated here.
Nam Si-deok, Director of the Strategic Industry Semiconductor Division of the city, said, "For regional economic growth, it is as important to advance and diversify existing anchor industries as it is to discover new industries. The city will strive to create a virtuous cycle that can increase corporate sales and generate new jobs through fostering anchor industries."
