Advance Team for DAPA Daejeon Relocation to Move by End of June

The advance team for the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) relocation to Daejeon will move to Daejeon at the end of June.


The Daejeon city government announced on the 21st that the first advance team, consisting of about 240 DAPA employees, is scheduled to move into the former Korea Racing Authority building located in Wolpyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon by the end of June as originally planned.


DAPA has completed the remodeling design for the office space where the advance team will be housed and requested a contract from the Public Procurement Service on the 9th. The remodeling construction is expected to begin next month.


The construction will be carried out with Daejeon city responsible for basic facilities such as fire safety and electricity, while DAPA will handle the interior partitioning and interior design of the four floors to be used as offices.


The construction budget is a total of 3.3 billion KRW, and participation is restricted to companies located in the Daejeon area only.


The city will listen to the opinions of relocating institutions such as DAPA, the Korea Forest Service, and the Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute, which are scheduled to relocate this year, and will promote support for each relocating institution in cooperation with local districts and the education office to help employees settle quickly in the region.


Additionally, the settlement allowance for relocating families will be increased from a maximum of 1.8 million KRW to 2.4 million KRW for a family of four, and a transfer and enrollment incentive of 1.2 million KRW will be provided for children of relocating employees.


Lee Jang-woo, mayor of Daejeon, said, “We will spare no support to ensure that employees of institutions relocating to Daejeon quickly adapt to the region and do not experience inconvenience in their daily lives. Starting with the relocation of DAPA, the city will also strive to attract many institutions targeted for the second phase of public institution relocations planned by the government from the Seoul metropolitan area to local areas, in order to create synergy effects with the regional base industries.”
