Korean Air Operates Cargo Charter Flight Transporting Relief Supplies to Turkey

Korean Air has undertaken the free transportation of relief supplies for the victims affected by the severe earthquake in Turkey.

On the 20th, Korean Air operated a cargo flight from Incheon to Istanbul to transport relief supplies for the earthquake victims in Turkey free of charge. The aircraft used was a Boeing 777F cargo plane.

The relief supplies transported by Korean Air amounted to approximately 45 tons, including tents, sleeping bags, and blankets. Upon arrival in Istanbul, the supplies will be delivered to the earthquake victims through Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

This special cargo charter flight was arranged in response to a humanitarian aid request from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), to which Korean Air responded.

A Korean Air official stated, "We decided to carry out this transportation to contribute even a little to KOICA's humanitarian relief efforts to help the victims in Turkey. We hope that these relief supplies will help the earthquake victims in Turkey, who are still suffering, to overcome the pain of the disaster as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, based on its world-class air cargo transportation expertise and global network, Korean Air has previously provided relief supplies and free transportation to disaster sites such as the 2018 Laos dam accident, the 2017 Peru floods, the 2016 Fiji cyclone, and the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Going forward, Korean Air plans to continue playing a leading role as a global airline in overseas emergency relief activities and actively participate in humanitarian efforts.
