Jeju Development Corporation announced on the 20th that Jeju Samdasoo will hold the 'Water Friends' drawing contest on the 22nd to commemorate World Water Day.
Jeju Samdasoo organized this contest as part of its ESG campaign to raise awareness among children about the importance of clean water and to convey the message that everyone should have access to safe drinking water. The contest aims to provide an opportunity to reflect on friends in Africa suffering from water shortages and to reconsider the meaning of water for a sustainable life.
The Water Friends contest's theme is 'water bottle.' Participants are asked to depict a water bottle that can be gifted to African children who face difficulties due to lack of safe drinking water, filled with Jeju Samdasoo. Winning entries will be made into design badges and given to African children and children visiting the KidZania Seoul Jeju Samdasoo Experience Center. The winning works will also be exhibited in September on the 'Funthing ESG Heroes app' and at KidZania Seoul.
The contest can be entered both online and offline, with online submissions accepted through the children's ESG contest app, 'Funthing ESG Heroes.' All children who participate via the Funthing ESG Heroes app will receive a DIY eco bag called the 'Water Friends Kit.' Participation is also possible at the 'ESG Play Headquarters' within KidZania Seoul and Busan. The contest runs for about two months from now until May 14 and is open to children aged 5 to 12 years old.
Jeju Development Corporation stated, "We hope that through the Water Friends contest, children will reflect on their friends in Africa who suffer from water shortages and, furthermore, experience the preciousness of water." They added, "Jeju Samdasoo plans to provide sustainable ESG experiences so that children, who are the future leaders, can grow into admirable adults who bring hope to the environment and society."
