Lotte Tour Development is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as a combined effect of news that Chinese national airlines are returning to Jeju air routes and the expectation that group tours for Chinese tourists will fully resume in May.
As of 9:31 AM on the 20th, Lotte Tour Development is trading at 13,040 KRW, up 3.66% compared to the previous day.
According to the aviation industry, seven Chinese airlines have applied for schedules on the China-Jeju direct flight routes and will resume operations starting from the 26th. The flights operated by these seven airlines amount to 52 times.
Along with the existing routes to Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand, the full resumption of direct China routes connecting Shanghai, Hong Kong, Nanjing, and Tianjin is expected to cause an explosive increase in tourists from the Greater China region.
The tourism industry expects that individual tourists will be the main focus for the time being, but group tours may be allowed as early as May, revitalizing the Chinese tourism market.
Lotte Tour Development operates Jeju Dream Tower, Korea's first urban complex resort. Dream Tower houses the largest single hotel in Korea, the ‘Grand Hyatt Jeju,’ and the foreigner-only ‘Dream Tower Casino,’ among other facilities.
Na Seungdu, a researcher at SK Securities, said, "The number of visitors to the foreigner casino at Jeju Dream Tower is about 9,000 per month on average this year, indicating very high casino demand among foreigners visiting Jeju Island," adding, "The time when Chinese group tourists and VIP casino customers from China and Hong Kong can freely visit Jeju casinos is not far off."
