[One Day Walk] 20km to Tour All Colleges... Seoul National University Main Road

[Editor's Note] Seoul National University Gwanak Campus covers an area of 4,108,000㎡, which is larger than Yeouido (2,900,000㎡). The SNU Sports Promotion Center is conducting a health project called SNUWALK to encourage walking exercises among campus members, using the Gwanak Campus as the stage, and has created the SNUWALK map. We introduce walking courses at Seoul National University that are useful not only for SNU members but also for the general public.

SNUModuro is a trail that circles the entire campus. It consists of 11 sections, passing by all the colleges including the College of Liberal Arts, College of Education, College of Social Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, College of Business Administration, and College of Engineering. The total distance along the main roads is 20 km, taking about 4 hours, and burning approximately 1,136 kcal. Among the SNUModuro routes, the Sports Promotion Center’s recommended course is a large loop around Seoul National University. Starting from the main gate of SNU, it passes the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, New Engineering Building 1, Beodeulgol, and the Sports Complex. This course is about 5 km long, takes around 1 hour, and burns about 300 kcal.

The main gate of Seoul National University, nicknamed ‘Sha,’ is a sculpture combining the first consonants ㄱ, ㅅ, ㄷ of the Korean name for National Seoul University. It symbolizes SNU and is the most popular photo zone as well as a famous spot where graduates leave their last footprints. Beodeulgol is ideal for spreading out mats and enjoying reading or naps in spring and autumn. Jahayeon, meaning ‘pond with purple sunset,’ is a popular date spot for tourists and couples. The Engineering Waterfall behind the College of Engineering (Lower Engineering Building) is a natural waterfall created by the water flow from Gwanaksan Mountain and is commonly called the Engineering Waterfall.
