Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon invited residents to the 'GPT Innovation Forum' to collectively consider what the future shaped by generative artificial intelligence GPT will look like and how to respond to it.
On the 19th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "The shock of 'Chat GPT' is expected to bring massive changes to jobs and the economy. To turn these changes into more and more equitable opportunities, policies must respond well," adding, "Tomorrow, March 20th at 2 PM, the 'Gyeongbasi - GPT Innovation Forum' will be held at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Auditorium and streamed live on YouTube as an effort to find better policies."
He continued, "Along with Professor Jang Dae-ik, who will deliver the keynote speech, as well as CEO Han Sang-gi, Professor Choi Jae-sik, and Professor Cha Kyung-jin, we will look ahead to the changes GPT will bring," emphasizing, "Gyeonggi Province is responding fastest to the changes triggered by GPT. On February 9th, I mentioned the 'Gyeonggi GPT Initiative,' and starting March 13th, we launched the first-ever 'Gyeonggi GPT Project Proposal Contest' for all employees of the provincial government and public institutions. The 'GPT Innovation Forum' is also the first nationwide."
He added, "In the early 21st century, South Korea wrote a growth myth of the internet and IT venture companies. This was possible by first laying nationwide high-speed internet and spreading internet access to all citizens," and said, "Now is the time to leap forward as an AI powerhouse, a GPT powerhouse. What preparations are needed for that? We want to discuss such topics," explaining the reason for holding the forum.
The Gyeongbasi (Time to Change Gyeonggi Province) event held that day was organized according to Governor Kim Dong-yeon's intention to study the latest trends in future growth industries and reflect them in policies, conducted through expert lectures and discussions.
Last December, the province held seven sessions of Gyeongbasi Season 1, focusing on semiconductors, climate change, bio, future cars, and more.
This event is the first forum hosted by a local government with the theme of 'GPT,' where experts from various fields share knowledge under the title 'Changes and Opportunities in the GPT Era.'
Following the keynote speech titled "The Shock of Generative Artificial Intelligence and New Opportunities" by Professor Jang Dae-ik of Gachon University, a renowned evolutionary biologist and philosopher of science, presentations will follow on ▲ Limits, ethics, and social issues of generative AI (Han Sang-gi, CEO of Tech Frontier) ▲ Utilization strategies of generative AI and Chat GPT (Professor Choi Jae-sik, KAIST) ▲ Talent and business in the generative AI era (Professor Cha Kyung-jin, Hanyang University).
After the presentations, Lee Won-jae, policy advisor to Gyeonggi Province, will moderate a panel discussion and introduce the 'Gyeonggi GPT' promotion plan to be implemented by the province.
The forum allows on-site registration, so residents can come to the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building in Gwanggyo, Suwon, at the scheduled time. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be broadcast live simultaneously on the official YouTube channel (live.gg.go.kr).
