Podcast Reveals Bone Broth and Vegetable-Based Diet
Experts Warn It May Give the Public a Distorted Perception
Amid Growing Controversy, Clarifies "I Don't Eat Like This Every Day"
Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow has faced fierce criticism after introducing her diet as a 'well-being health food.' Critics argue that it is far from an actually healthy eating habit.
Earlier, on the 13th (local time), Paltrow appeared on the health-related podcast The Art of Being Well to introduce her diet.
Paltrow stated, "I eat dinner early and practice intermittent fasting. In the morning, I drink coffee that does not raise blood sugar, and usually eat something around 12 PM." She added, "I really like having soup for lunch, especially broth made from boiling bones."
She also revealed that for dinner, she adheres to the so-called 'Paleolithic diet' or 'caveman diet,' known as the Paleo diet. The Paleo diet consists of natural vegetables and proteins without seasonings. It is particularly known as a diet that excludes carbohydrates.
However, once the podcast was released, criticism followed, saying, "Paltrow's diet could instill distorted perceptions among the public."
Columnist Megan McCain wrote in a column for the British media outlet Daily Mail, "America is tired of pseudo well-being and starvation diets. The habits introduced by Paltrow seem like cult-like activities," adding, "She has made millions of dollars by creating the so-called well-being lifestyle brand 'Goop,' but I would never buy such things."
Nutrition expert Lauren Cadillac also said on TikTok, "Paltrow's diet is not well-being but an eating disorder," urging, "Please refrain from blindly following celebrities for your health and well-being."
As the controversy grew, Paltrow explained on her Instagram, "I have had COVID-19 for a long time, which caused my inflammation levels to become very high," adding, "So I focused on foods that do not cause inflammation."
She emphasized, "That does not mean I eat bone broth and vegetables every day. Most days, I eat whatever I want, whether it’s French fries or something else."
