The Criminal Division 12 of Daegu District Court (Presiding Judge Eo Jae-won) announced on the 17th that A (29), who was indicted on charges including attempted murder, was sentenced to 13 years in prison and ordered to complete a 40-hour stalking crime treatment program and undergo probation for five years.

On September 27 of last year, A picked up his high school classmate B in his car and stabbed her with a weapon he had prepared in advance. He followed B, who got out of the car and tried to escape, and stabbed her dozens of times on a main road, causing serious injuries.

After receiving a breakup notice from B in the same month, A strangled B’s neck, called or messaged her over 460 times, and also stalked her.

A passerby who witnessed the crime scene reported to the police that "a man was threatening a woman with a weapon," and three men passing by subdued A, who was armed, and handed him over to the police. B was seriously injured and transported to the hospital.

The court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, "If the passing drivers had not intervened at the time of the crime, the victim would have died," and "The defendant was not forgiven by the victim, and the damage has not been restored."
