"Couldn't Even Attend Daughter's Entrance Ceremony That Day... Resentful of Colleagues"

A police officer in Busan was stabbed in the neck with a weapon while responding to an incident but was forced to work alone without receiving proper medical treatment, according to a recent revelation.

On the 16th, according to the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency and the anonymous workplace community 'Blind,' Sergeant A, who works at a district police station in Busan, responded with a colleague to a report of loud noises at an apartment in Buk-gu, Busan, around 5 a.m. on the 6th. The apartment owner, Mr. B, who showed threatening behavior, got into a scuffle with Sergeant A and others and even wielded a weapon.

Despite being stabbed in the neck and face and bleeding, Sergeant A, along with his colleague, apprehended Mr. B. However, Sergeant A was not properly treated at the hospital emergency room and was only barely bandaged on the wound before returning to the district police station.

Sergeant A, who was bleeding quite heavily, rested briefly on a chair at the police station due to dizziness. When he opened his eyes, he was shocked. Basic information related to the incident had not even been entered into the Criminal Justice Information System called 'KICS,' and no one was preparing a statement. It was also reported that evidence such as the weapon had not been properly secured. At the time, there were reportedly five police officers at the district station, including Sergeant A.

Ultimately, Sergeant A completed the paperwork alone and handed over the suspect to the jurisdictional police station before he was finally able to leave work. Later, he visited a plastic surgery clinic to have the injured area operated on, was diagnosed with a three-week recovery period, and returned home about 12 hours after the report was filed.

In a post detailing the situation and his feelings, Sergeant A said, "I cried after hearing the doctor's explanation that if the weapon had gone just a little to the side, I could have died," adding, "I couldn't even attend my daughter's elementary school entrance ceremony that day. I was injured while working for the country but had to go to the hospital alone." He also added that he "resented his colleagues."

The police are reportedly conducting an internal investigation related to the district station's handling of the incident.
