President Park Seong-hyun Meets with Evergreen CEO Jonny Lee
Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) announced on the 17th that it conducted an invitation marketing event for the CEO of Evergreen Korea, a member of the Ocean Alliance, to attract new container ship services and cargo volume to Yeosu Gwangyang Port.
The global shipping market consists of three major alliances: 2M, The Alliance, and Ocean Alliance.

The Ocean Alliance includes Taiwan's Evergreen, France's CMA-CGM, China's COSCO, and Hong Kong's OOCL.
The invitation marketing event was held in a one-on-one meeting format between President Park Seong-hyun and Johnny Lee, CEO of Evergreen Korea, to proactively respond to the downturn in the global shipping market.
In particular, the meeting covered various discussions including △ strategies to attract Ocean Alliance fleets to Gwangyang Port △ Q&A regarding the fully automated container terminal at Gwangyang Port △ and plans to generate new cargo volume.
President Park Seong-hyun stated, “To respond to the shipping market trends reshaped after COVID-19, we will focus more on improving port services provided to alliance shipping companies. As Gwangyang Port is the largest comprehensive port in Korea offering route connectivity services ranked 28th among over 900 ports worldwide, we will take the lead in responding to the global economic slowdown.”
