Oh Gwang-rok, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, announced on the 16th that the "Ordinance on the Installation and Operation of Seo-gu Resident Autonomy Centers (Partial Amendment)" was passed at the 2nd plenary session of the 310th extraordinary meeting.
The amendment stipulates matters related to the installation and operation of resident autonomy centers to promote residents' convenience and welfare, strengthen resident autonomy functions, and contribute to the formation of local communities, as well as matters concerning the composition and operation of resident autonomy committees.
It revises the support for program operation at autonomy centers based on the population of each neighborhood, reflecting a population decline rate of 6%, lowering the criteria for program support, and thereby expanding support for resident autonomy center programs.
With this ordinance amendment, Hwajeong 3-dong, Hwajeong 2 and 4-dong, Geumho 1-dong, and Chipyeong-dong will each receive support for one additional program.
Councilor Oh stated, "I hope that the expansion of program support for resident autonomy centers through this ordinance amendment will further activate residents' autonomous activities," and added, "As we pass through the long tunnel of COVID-19 and gradually recover our daily lives, I will strive to ensure that various community activities of residents can flourish."
