Emphasis on Preventing Coastal Safety Accidents During Holiday Season

According to Mokpo Maritime Police on the 16th, Chief Kim first visited the Jido Police Substation to check the management status of substation facilities and lifesaving equipment related to the Serious Accident Punishment Act, encouraged the staff for their hard work, and listened to difficulties and resolutions.
In particular, he awarded a letter of appreciation to Shin In-ok, captain of the civilian vessel ‘Sinjinho,’ who supported the maritime police’s search and rescue activities during the fishing boat capsizing accident in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, on the 5th of last month, and expressed gratitude for the maritime police’s cooperation.
He then moved to Holtong Beach in Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, a coastal area vulnerable to accidents, to inspect safety management facilities such as lifesaving equipment boxes, preparing for various safety accident risks including maritime casualties during the holiday season.
Kim Hae-cheol, Chief of Mokpo Maritime Police Station, stated, “We plan to promote proactive coastal safety management activities through the issuance of coastal safety risk forecasts and the nationwide life jacket wearing campaign.” He added, “I hope that the police substations and detachments will independently analyze local security issues on site and actively work to resolve them.”
