Asiana Airlines announced on the 16th that it will collaborate with the eco-friendly fashion brand ‘Danha’ to launch five new types of travel pouches made using uniforms.
This is the second project since last January, when Asiana Airlines became the first domestic airline to introduce upcycled tablet pouches made from uniforms. The products feature designs inspired by images of Asiana Airlines’ destinations: ▲Seoul ▲Hawaii ▲Bangkok ▲Hong Kong ▲Da Nang. They are designed to conveniently store travel essentials such as passports, cosmetics, and chargers.
The upcycled travel pouches from Asiana Airlines are priced at 19,000 KRW each. A limited quantity of 400 units will be sold on the Korea National Trust Naver Store. All proceeds will be donated to the Korea National Trust to support ecological conservation activities for the Ganghwa Maehwa-marum habitat.
Asiana Airlines discards about 30,000 uniforms annually across various job categories. Due to the nature of the airline industry, over 8,000 employees wear uniforms, including flight crew, cabin crew, maintenance technicians, and airport staff. By upcycling uniforms that would otherwise be incinerated each year, Asiana Airlines is participating in resource circulation and environmental protection.
An Asiana Airlines representative said, “Through upcycling, we have strived to create new products that combine both design and practicality while protecting the environment.”
