LS Electric Unveils Power Solutions at Korea-Japan Smart Energy Exhibition

First Public Reveal of Electric Vehicle Charging Platform with SST Applied

LS Electric will participate in the world's largest exhibitions in the smart energy sector held in both Korea and Japan to showcase its strategic solutions and technological capabilities.

LS Electric will simultaneously attend 'InterBattery 2023' held at COEX in Seoul from the 15th to the 17th, and the 'Tokyo Smart Grid Expo 2023' held at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan. At these exhibitions, LS Electric will unveil for the first time an electric vehicle charging platform based on solid-state transformers (SST) under the theme of 'Everything about Energy.' Next-generation modular energy storage system (ESS) solutions and EV relays will also be showcased.

LS Electric's SST is a new concept transformer that enables voltage transformation and DC-to-AC conversion through power semiconductors without the need for separate power conversion devices. The EV charging platform based on LS Electric's SST measures and collects power usage data at the application site, allowing users to predict their power consumption. It supports time-of-use pricing and charging amount control, enhancing the efficiency and stability of the power energy market. The next-generation modular ESS platform MSSP features modularization of the power conversion core component PEBB (Power Electronic Building Block) in 200-kilowatt (kW) units, supporting smart independent operation.

LS Electric plans to target overseas markets where ESS demand is increasing, such as Japan, North America, and Europe, by leading with next-generation ESS products. Japan will serve as a foothold to accelerate global market expansion. Last year, LS Electric became the first domestic company to win two of the 13 ESS projects for grid stabilization commissioned by the Japanese government, completing installations in Kyushu (2MW*8MWh scale) and Hokkaido (2MW*8MWh scale).
