Consumer Exposure Program '315 Wanhui' Airs
Targeting Unsanitary Production and Consumer Deception by Faulty Companies
China's consumer expos? program '3·15 Wanhui,' which reveals unscrupulous companies, will be broadcast on the 15th. The program, which candidly exposes unsanitary manufacturing environments and deceptive consumer practices, generates significant attention every year. In the past, it also exposed the 'naked kimchi' manufacturer, which shocked South Korea.
According to China Central (CC) TV, 3·15 Wanhui will air on CCTV at 8 p.m. that evening. This program, jointly investigated and produced by the National Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Administration, the National Medical Products Administration, the China Consumers Association, and CCTV's special reporting team, has the theme of 'Enhancing Consumer Trust' this year.
Since its first broadcast in 1991, 3·15 Wanhui exposes up to around 10 unscrupulous companies over approximately two hours. Companies named in the broadcast suffer significant damage, with stock prices plummeting and sales sharply declining the next day. In 2021, the program revealed the practice of transporting kimchi with heavy machinery and salting cabbage naked in factories, which sparked controversy in South Korea as well.
The targets include both domestic and foreign companies. Major Chinese distribution companies such as Taobao and Ele.me have been scrutinized, and issues involving foreign companies like Burger King, Muji, Nike, Starbucks, Apple, and Kumho Tire have also been covered.
