Increase in Spring Visitors and Opening of Eco Rider
On the 15th, Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, Gyeongnam, announced that he visited the Wolasan Forest Leisure Sports Complex in Jinseong-myeon to conduct a safety inspection in order to prevent safety accidents during the spring season.
The ‘Wolasan Forest Leisure Sports Complex’ is a leisure sports facility and adventure experience site uniquely situated by utilizing the terrain of Wolasan Forest. Since its opening in May last year, about 35,000 people have visited, and recently, with the arrival of spring, more than 350 people experience forest leisure sports on weekends.
They operate the ‘Net Adventure,’ a play facility that arranges nets using wooden structures and the forest, and the ‘Curved Zip Wire,’ an adventure experience facility that descends along a curved pipeline.
Joo Kyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, Gyeongnam, is conducting a safety inspection of the Wolasan Forest Leisure Complex facilities.
Additional facilities such as the Eco Rider, straight zip line, and Kids Adventure are also operated to be enjoyed by all age groups from children to adults.
Mayor Jo focused on inspecting safety management regarding the operation of major leisure sports facilities, including whether protective devices are in place for the soon-to-open ‘Eco Rider,’ the deployment of safety personnel, and the response system in case of emergencies.
In particular, as the number of visitors to Wolasan is expected to increase due to spring cultural events and the blooming of spring flowers, he urged careful attention and caution in safety management so that citizens can enjoy activities safely.
The city will start operating the ‘Eco Rider’ from the 17th, which allows visitors to ride an aerial bicycle along a cable connected through the mountain terrain of Wolasan Forest. The ‘Eco Rider’ at Wolasan, the first curved driving line in Korea, is 504 meters long and ranges in height from 2.3 meters to 15.1 meters, providing a three-dimensional experience of the natural environment of Wolasan Forest in Jinju. With the operation of the ‘Eco Rider,’ the Wolasan Forest Leisure Sports Complex is expected to become the largest forest leisure sports complex in the southern region, offering various unique experiences.
Mayor Jo said, “As the number of forest leisure sports participants increases with the arrival of spring, thorough preparation is necessary,” and instructed, “Add safety personnel for each facility, prioritize safety, and do your best to operate the Wolasan Forest Leisure Sports Complex so that not a single accident occurs.”
