Yongsan-gu is expanding its university entrance and academic support programs to reduce learning gaps among middle and high school students in the area and provide equitable educational opportunities.

This program is being implemented for the first time this year following an agreement with Gangnam-gu in February.

Students wishing to take Gangnam online lectures can apply by the 22nd. Support is available for the first 300 applicants. By paying a 10,000 KRW co-payment, students can access all courses via regular PC and smartphones until the end of the year.

The university entrance briefing session will be held on the 29th from 7 PM for two hours at the Yongsan Art Hall Small Theater. Real-time online participation is also possible via the Yongsan-gu YouTube channel. Admission is free.

Jung-gu Hosts Elementary Parent Academy at Jung-gu Education Support Center in March

Invites Admission Expert Son Areum from Daechi-dong

Lecture on Step-by-Step Learning and Academic Roadmap from Elementary to University Entrance

Seoul’s Jung-gu (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) will hold an academy for parents of elementary students in March to provide guidance on preparing their children for academic advancement.

The lecture will take a long-term perspective from elementary school through university entrance, carefully explaining what to prepare and how to study at each stage.

The lectures will be held on the 23rd and 30th at the Jung-gu Education Support Center, and applications can be submitted by the 22nd via the Jung-gu Education Support Center’s Iro-um website.

The instructor is Son Areum, CEO of S-On Math Gifted Academy. She has over 10 years of experience teaching math in Daechi-dong, authored books such as "Putting a Heart into Math" and "Daechi-dong Elementary Roadmap," and appeared on the educational TV program "Study Is Money?" She is a leading expert in education.

Son Areum emphasizes that “a well-designed academic roadmap from elementary through high school leads to university entrance,” and will lecture on unchanging entrance principles and effective advanced study methods. She will also analyze the characteristics of specialized high schools, autonomous private high schools, and general high schools, and discuss the skills and preparations needed for each. A Q&A session will follow to address parents’ questions.

Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, “Given the reality that university entrance cannot be ignored and the marathon-like nature of the entrance process, parents may feel vague anxiety and impatience. Attending this lecture will reduce anxiety and provide ‘valuable information’ to help plan your child’s future. We encourage many parents to participate.”

‘Visiting Lifelong Learning’ is a project that operates programs using lifelong education institutions and idle spaces throughout the region to make lifelong learning more accessible to residents. It has been ongoing since 2020.

The recruitment targets lifelong education-related institutions and organizations located in Seoul. The application period is until March 27th. Interested institutions or organizations must submit application documents via email in advance and then visit the Education Support Division on the 4th floor of Jungnang-gu Office.

About three institutions or organizations will be selected, with results announced at the end of April. Selected institutions will receive approximately 5 million KRW to cover program operating expenses such as instructor fees, teaching materials, and supplies.

Programs must utilize not only the institution’s facilities but also local idle spaces, and operate at least five lifelong learning programs in humanities, culture, and arts. Additionally, at least two specialized programs tailored to demand groups such as men aged 50-60, the 20-30 generation, or people with disabilities must be prepared.

To provide more residents with opportunities to participate in lifelong learning, operating hours are limited to weekdays after 6 PM and weekends.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “‘Visiting Lifelong Learning’ is a great opportunity to expand access to diverse learning opportunities closer to residents beyond programs offered at existing lifelong learning centers. We will continue to strive to prepare distinctive and diverse programs so that Jungnang-gu residents can enjoy broad lifelong learning.”
