The Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency announced on the 13th that it has begun accepting applications for the '2023 eBook Production Support' project. The application deadline is until the 29th.
This project supports the production of eBooks for general books and unpublished manuscripts. A total of 840 titles will be selected twice a year.
The production cost is 300,000 KRW for PDF and 400,000 KRW for EPUB 2.0. A fixed amount is supported regardless of production difficulty. EPUB 3.0 with accessibility features for persons with disabilities is supported on a sliding scale from 1,000,000 KRW up to a maximum of 3,000,000 KRW depending on production difficulty. Selected companies producing EPUB 3.0 will be provided with free training and consulting on accessible eBook production for persons with disabilities.
Applications are accepted through the Publication Promotion Agency’s website. After applying online, books or manuscripts must be submitted by mail before the deadline.
A representative from the Publication Promotion Agency stated, “In line with international standardization, we will expand support for EPUB 3.0 accessible eBook production and continuously strive to ensure that persons with disabilities can enjoy a reading culture without discrimination from non-disabled people.”
