Wando County Governor Shin Woo-cheol Conducts Special Lecture for All Employees

"Let's Lead Military Administration Linked to the 4th Industrial Revolution"

Wando County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) held a special lecture titled "The 4th Industrial Revolution and the Future of Wando County" for all public officials over two days on the 8th and 10th at the Wando Life Culture Center.

According to the county on the 13th, the special lecture was led by Governor Shin Woo-cheol and was designed to enhance employees' understanding of future core technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), metaverse, Internet of Things (IOT), and renewable energy?key technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution?and to cultivate the ability to link these technologies to the county’s core projects.


First, Governor Shin explained the connection cases and application plans between the county’s priority areas?marine healing industry, marine bio-industry, wellness tourism, National Subtropical Arboretum, National Marine Fisheries Museum, large-scale SOC projects?and 4th Industrial Revolution technologies.


He then emphasized the necessity of promoting education and welfare services using artificial intelligence to respond to rapidly changing environments, integrating virtual reality into health and safety sectors, analyzing climate change and tourism through big data, utilizing drones in agriculture and life-saving operations, and the importance of smart farms and smart aquaculture.


In particular, he stressed that sustainable development should be pursued through ESG management, including eco-friendly production in marine, forestry, and agricultural and livestock sectors, responding to and managing climate change, addressing the crisis of population decline and extinction, protecting socially vulnerable groups, fostering win-win cooperation between businesses and local communities, and revitalizing residents’ autonomous functions.


Finally, Governor Shin stated, “The technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution are accelerating and becoming widespread in daily life,” and urged, “All public officials should take an interest and make efforts to integrate 4th Industrial Revolution technologies throughout county administration to improve the quality of life for residents and the future development of Wando.”


Meanwhile, Wando County is utilizing core 4th Industrial Revolution technologies in various county projects, such as red tide surveillance using drones, tourism trend analysis using big data, and smart farms using information and communication technology (ICT).
