Six agencies, including the National Intelligence Service, military units, the Korea Customs Service, and local governments, participated in this inspection, during which they checked △ vulnerable areas and trends of international crimes △ reorganization of vulnerable ports and harbors under police station jurisdiction △ cooperation status of local resident reporting networks.

In particular, they plan to continuously conduct new route explorations and intensive sea and land patrols in response to concerns about smuggling and illegal immigration occurring during the agricultural season (March to July).

A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, “We will actively respond to various international crimes at sea through real-time information sharing and close cooperation with related agencies,” adding, “Starting with the joint inspection in March, we will do our best to prevent international crimes such as smuggling and illegal immigration through random inspections and crackdowns on sea and land, as well as distribution of promotional materials.”
