Park In-geon, Former CEO of Daegu Opera House, Appointed as Director of National Theater of Korea

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 13th that Park In-geon (66), former CEO of Daegu Opera House, has been appointed as the director of the National Theater of Korea. The term is three years, until March 2026.

The National Theater of Korea is an autonomous management institution that grants its head autonomy and accountability based on performance, and the appointment of the director was made through an open recruitment process by the Ministry of Personnel Management in accordance with relevant laws.


Director Park graduated from Kyung Hee University’s Department of Instrumental Music (Violin) and completed a master's degree in Music Education at the same university’s graduate school.


He subsequently served as head of performance planning at Seoul Arts Center, head of performance planning at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, president of Gyeonggi Arts Center, president of KBS Symphony Orchestra, and CEO of Daegu Opera House.


A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official said, "We expect the new director to play a role in enhancing the status of the National Theater of Korea and strengthening the institution’s global capabilities based on his over 30 years of experience and expertise in various performing arts and cultural fields."
