Jeonnam Fire Department 'Joint Investigation Team Formation' to Conduct Safety Inspection of Tire Factories in the Province

Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Hong Young-geun) announced on the 13th that it will conduct an emergency fire safety inspection of tire factories in the province.

This measure is to prevent similar cases following the large-scale damage caused by the fire at a tire factory in Daejeon.

Tire factories handle many flammable materials such as rubber, chemicals, and finished tire products, making initial fire suppression difficult and highly likely to lead to large-scale fires.

In addition, the incomplete combustion of a large quantity of tires releases toxic substances into the air, and the fire extinguishing water used for a long time during fire suppression may cause secondary damage such as environmental pollution.

Jeonnam Fire Headquarters will organize a joint inspection team this month, including local governments, the Electric and Gas Safety Corporation, and private experts, to conduct special inspections and fire safety consulting for related personnel.

The main inspection items include ▲ verification of the maintenance and management status of fire-fighting facilities ▲ safety of fire handling and whether unauthorized hazardous materials are handled ▲ fire safety consulting to strengthen autonomous safety management ▲ safety management of facilities such as electricity and gas.

Chief Hong Young-geun said, “Since tire factories handle a large amount of flammable combustible materials, fires can lead to major accidents. Through this inspection, we will remove fire vulnerability factors and do our best to prevent fires and manage safety.”
