Jeongeup-si Promotes 'Farmer Safety Insurance Support Project'

Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do is promoting the ‘Farmer Safety Insurance’ support project to improve the welfare of farmers and support safe farming activities.

According to the city on the 13th, the ‘Farmer Safety Insurance’ is an insurance program that compensates for bodily injuries and farming-related illnesses occurring during agricultural work.

This project is being promoted to protect farmers by compensating for medical expenses in case of injury, illness, or disability diagnosis, and to promote their livelihood stability.

The support targets those aged 15 to 87, and any registered agricultural business operator engaged in farming can enroll.

This year, insurance premiums have been reduced by 0.3% to 3.4% per product, reflecting the decreased loss ratio due to fewer insurance claims last year.

The eligible age for insurance enrollment has also been extended to 87 years old, considering the aging trend, so that more farmers can benefit.

The support amount covers 80% of the insurance premium, and farmers only need to pay 20% of the subscription fee to enroll.

Depending on the type, support per person ranges from 47,120 KRW to 146,752 KRW, and the subscription period is one year, requiring annual renewal.

Eligible applicants can visit a nearby Nonghyup branch for consultation and enrollment.

A city official stated, “By reducing the insurance premium burden and strengthening coverage for accidents occurring during farming work, we expect this to help farmers receive stable treatment and return to farming. We hope many local farmers enroll in the insurance and benefit from it.”
