Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 13th that it will resume the 'Neighborhood Visiting Dementia Screening' that was suspended due to COVID-19.

The visiting dementia screening is conducted to improve dementia awareness and enable efficient health management through early detection. It targets 57,202 elderly residents aged 60 and over in the district, with neighborhood-by-neighborhood mobile screenings being carried out.


The period will run from the 30th of this month to July 14th. Nam-gu has formed a dedicated screening team of eight staff members working at the Dementia Safety Center to provide screening services such as the Cognitive Impairment Screening Test (CIST) and result consultations.


Residents aged 60 and over who have not been diagnosed with dementia can receive free screening by visiting the neighborhood administrative welfare center nearest to them on the scheduled mobile screening dates, regardless of their address. They must bring an ID card at the time of the screening.


The screening dates by neighborhood administrative welfare center are as follows: Yangnim-dong on March 30-31, Bangnim 1·2-dong on April 13-14, Bongseon 1-dong on April 20-21, Bongseon 2-dong on April 27-28, Sajik-dong on May 11-12, Wolsan-dong on May 19 and 22, Wolsan 4-dong on May 26 and 29, Wolsan 5-dong on June 1-2, Baegun 1-dong on June 8-9, and Baegun 2-dong on June 14.


In addition, screenings are planned to be conducted from late June to July in Juwol-dong, Jinwol-dong, Hyodeok-dong, Songam-dong, and Daechon-dong.


Residents who wish to undergo screening at any time can visit the Nam-gu Dementia Safety Center located in Nodae-dong for free screening. Residents aged 60 and over with a household income at or below 120% of the median income can receive up to 150,000 KRW in support for hospital diagnostic examination costs.
