Changwon Facilities Corporation, "There Are No Larvae in the Swimming Pool"

Larvae Inspection, Continuous Monitoring, and Disinfection of Surrounding Rivers

Changwon Facilities Corporation in Gyeongnam is implementing special management measures to prevent larval outbreaks in its affiliated swimming pools so that citizens can swim in cleaner and safer water quality.

Changwon Facilities Corporation, "There Are No Larvae in the Swimming Pool" Gyeongnam Changwon Facilities Corporation conducted training on the topic of "Swimming Pool Water Quality Management and Larvae Outbreak Response."

These special management measures were prepared to proactively respond to an environment where various pests can excessively breed as water temperatures rise with the arrival of spring weather.

Accordingly, the corporation has designated the period from March to April 30 as a special management period and will thoroughly manage hygiene and safety at 14 affiliated swimming pools, including the Citizen Sports Center swimming pool, Uichang and Seongsan Sports Center swimming pools.

Key management items in the water quality sector include conducting larval inspections at least once a month and performing continuous monitoring, such as passing water through filters more than three times a day.

In the facilities sector, measures include shortening the filter replacement cycle (from 4 years to 2 years), replacing aged fine insect screens, and installing pipe filters. In the pest control sector, in cooperation with the public health center, large-scale pest control will be conducted at least once a month around vulnerable areas such as rivers and water puddles near the swimming pools.

Prior to this, on the 22nd of last month, the corporation invited water quality experts from K-water to conduct training on "Swimming Pool Water Quality Management and Larval Outbreak Response" for department heads and staff in charge of the 14 swimming pool facilities to ensure a higher level of water management.

This training increased understanding by explaining water quality management-related laws and key water quality management items, and introducing management and response measures through cases of larval outbreaks such as midges.

Director Kim Jonghae said, “We will do our best to ensure that citizens can swim in a more pleasant environment through thorough water quality management and larval prevention measures for the swimming pools.”
