PicoGram is gaining strength. As the release of contaminated water from Fukushima, Japan is expected in the first half of this year, PicoGram, which developed a cesium purification filter, is drawing attention.
As of 9:55 AM on the 13th, PicoGram is trading at 10,950 KRW, up 10.94% from the previous day.
According to foreign media, Japan plans to release 1.3 million tons (t) of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean within the first half of this year. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated at the House of Councillors Budget Committee on the 3rd, "There is no change to the planned release of contaminated water scheduled from spring to summer this year."
This contaminated water contains a total of 62 types of radioactive nuclides, including tritium, cesium-134, cesium-137, and strontium-90. The Japanese government plans to use the Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS) to remove most of the nuclides and then dilute the water before releasing it.
However, although the Japanese government claims to have removed most nuclides twice, an on-site inspection by an international investigation team confirmed that various radioactive substances such as carbon-14, cesium-137, strontium-90 (20,000 times the standard level), plutonium, cesium, and iodine-131 remain, in addition to tritium.
Since this is the first time a large amount of contaminated water is being released into the ocean, it is unknown how diluting radioactive substances that affect multiple generations will impact the human body.
Meanwhile, PicoGram previously conducted a 'radiation fusion technology' project through a national research task. The main content was the development of a cesium purification filter based on radiation technology.
