Naver Cloud "Naver Works with 4.5 Million Users Evolves into AI Super App"

Naver Cloud announced on the 13th that it will develop its business collaboration tool, 'Naver Works,' into an artificial intelligence (AI) super app.


Naver Works has shown a growth trend with the number of global clients increasing more than fourfold over the past two years. The number of global clients grew from 100,000 in 2020 to 430,000 in the fourth quarter of last year, more than quadrupling, and the number of users surpassed 4.5 million.


Naver Cloud explained that Naver Works continued its growth by developing and providing various features tailored to the hybrid work environment that combines remote work and office attendance due to the endemic. It is analyzed that work convenience has greatly improved as colleagues within the same organization using Naver Works, as well as users from other companies using Naver Works and Line Messenger, can communicate smoothly. Currently, there are 840,000 external users linked to Naver Works, and the number of users connected via Line Messenger reaches 21 million.


In particular, Naver Works is achieving overwhelming market share and performance in Japan. Its ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) exceeded 10 billion yen consecutively in the third and fourth quarters of 2022. ARR is a key indicator showing the revenue received annually from contracted customers and serves as a standard for predicting the business status and growth of SaaS companies offering annual contracts or subscriptions. Surpassing 10 billion yen in ARR is an achievement reached seven years after starting business in Japan.


Naver Cloud plans to develop Naver Works into an AI super app. By applying AI technologies to text, voice, and video, it will expand various functions of Naver Works with AI, such as sentence generation and voice interfaces.


They are preparing the 'Naver Works AI Assistant' (tentative name) to provide an AI personal assistant to everyone working. Once the Naver Works AI Assistant service is available, users will be able to obtain desired information by asking questions as if speaking to an assistant, without any separate learning process.


For example, the AI assistant can understand conversation content, organize necessary discussion points into notes, register tasks to be done, or assist users by providing information such as parking locations and delivery arrivals. Through this, the plan is not only to lead digital transformation in enterprises but also to develop it into an AI super app necessary for operating smart buildings and smart cities.
