Information on tourist attractions, historical sites, experience programs, festivals, and events
Also provides nearby popular restaurants, accommodations, and navigation services
Complete the ‘Neorang Narang Urirang Stamp Healing Tour’ using the electronic map for partnership benefits
Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) has launched the ‘Smart Tourism Electronic Map’ service this month, allowing users to view various tourism information such as local attractions and popular restaurants at a glance on their smartphones.
The ‘Smart Tourism Electronic Map’ includes a variety of tourism information available in Gangbuk-gu, from urban natural healing spaces like Bukhansan Mountain, Buk Seoul Dream Forest, and Solbat Park to historical sites, experience programs, cultural facilities, sports facilities, festivals, and events.
Tourists can use the electronic map to easily check local attractions, nearby popular restaurants, and accommodations all in one place. For example, searching for the Uidong Family Camping Site on the electronic map displays blog reviews, nearby restaurants, and accommodations on a single screen.
Additionally, the district has integrated a voice guidance system that provides detailed explanations of tourist sites and a public transportation and navigation route guidance service based on the user’s real-time location information into the electronic map.
Starting this year, the district will utilize the electronic map for the ‘Neorang Narang Urirang Stamp Healing Tour.’ This tour is a travel program that involves walking approximately 4 km while experiencing historical culture at sites such as the National April 19th Democratic Cemetery and the Modern History Memorial Hall. The route starts from the Modern History Memorial Hall, passes the April 19th Observatory and Pine Tree Rest Area, and ends at the Uidong Meeting Plaza, or it can be done in reverse order.
Participants can touch the stamp tour on the electronic map screen and check their smartphone at each designated point to collect stamps. Visiting all four locations?Uidong Meeting Plaza, Pine Tree Rest Area, April 19th Observatory, and Modern History Memorial Hall?earns a stamp tour completion certificate.
Those who complete the tour can present the certificate to enjoy a 10% discount at 14 affiliated nearby restaurants. Other benefits include a 10% discount on hiking gear and clothing, and especially discounts on reservations at the Uidong Family Camping Site (50% off decks, 30% off glamping). However, for the Uidong Family Camping Site discount, the reservation holder must complete the stamp tour on the day of camping using their own smartphone.
The Gangbuk-gu Smart Tourism Electronic Map can be accessed by searching ‘Gangbuk-gu Electronic Map’ on portal sites or by downloading the ‘Gangbuk-gu Smart Tourism Electronic Map’ app from app stores.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, stated, “Information on various upcoming local festivals such as the Uicheon Cherry Blossom Festival and the April 19th Revolution National Cultural Festival will also be included in the electronic map. We will continue to introduce diverse policies to help tourists visiting Gangbuk-gu enjoy local attractions 200%.”
Convenient emergency requests on Hongjecheon Bicycle Path in Seodaemun-gu
Address number plates installed enabling text reporting via smartphone Near Field Communication (NFC)
Seodaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 13th that it has recently installed 99 address information facilities (number plates) equipped with smartphone NFC (Near Field Communication) functionality along the 8.2 km round-trip section of the Hongjecheon Bicycle Path.
The district explained that it is the first in the nation to install such facilities with this functionality on a bicycle path.
Although Seoul City assigned road name addresses to the Hongjecheon Bicycle Path in November 2020, there were no buildings or signs nearby displaying these addresses, making it difficult to identify locations when requesting emergency rescue or reporting crimes.
The newly installed ‘Road Name Address Basic Number Plates’ include NFC chips, so by placing the back of a smartphone on the designated spot on the number plate, the road name address of the reporter’s location and an emergency request text automatically appear without manual input.
In an emergency, users can activate the smartphone’s NFC function, select 119 (rescue request) or 112 (crime report) as the text recipient, and send the message.
Anyone with an NFC-enabled smartphone can easily and accurately report without complicated registration procedures or installing applications.
For phones without this function, scanning a QR code provides the same service.
Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “We expect that the address information facilities enabling NFC text reporting will help facilitate rapid rescue activities in emergencies. We will continue to do our best to protect residents’ safety and lives.”
