The first foreign public relations ambassador has been appointed for Gyeonggi-do Fire Services.
On the 12th, the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced that on the 10th, they appointed Wanyihwa (15), a singer from Myanmar, as a public relations ambassador at the main conference room of the headquarters building in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon.
Wanyihwa will participate in various promotional activities to spread a culture of safety in Gyeonggi-do. As the first foreign public relations ambassador for fire services in Korea, she will take the lead in improving safety levels not only in Gyeonggi-do but also among foreign workers and multicultural families residing in the country.
Wanyihwa is of Karen ethnicity from Myanmar and came to Korea six years ago, where she was recognized as a refugee. She lost her parents and is taking care of her two younger brothers. She is currently a first-year student at Yongin Jungang Yedam High School.
She gained public attention after appearing on a trot audition program in 2020 and has been active as a singer since then. At the end of last year, she appeared on a documentary broadcast program, increasing her public recognition.
Wanyihwa said, "As a proud resident of Gyeonggi-do who lives and attends school here, it is a great honor to serve as a fire service public relations ambassador. I promise to participate actively in promotional activities for the safety of Gyeonggi-do residents, foreign workers, and multicultural families with all my heart, just as I do when singing."
Jo Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "We expect Wanyihwa, who willingly accepted the role as the first public relations ambassador for Gyeonggi-do Fire Services, to take the lead in delivering the message that safety knows no borders or races to not only the residents of Gyeonggi-do but also people around the world."
