On the 11th at around 1:19 PM, a fire broke out in a mountain area near Daeseong-ri, Hwagae-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam Province.
The forestry authorities issued a level 2 wildfire alert at 3:50 PM to prevent the fire from spreading.
According to Gyeongnam Province, the wildfire affected an estimated area of 50 hectares, with a containment rate of 20%.
At the site, where winds of about 3.0 m/s were blowing, 25 firefighting helicopters, 31 firefighting vehicles and equipment, and 369 personnel including special firefighting teams and aerial firefighting teams were deployed.
As of 5 PM, there have been no casualties or damage to residential areas, but 9 people, including 4 residents of Wontongam near the site, have evacuated.
A total of 194 people, including 155 residents of Uisin Village and 39 residents of Dancheon Village, are scheduled to move to a nearby elementary school by 6:30 PM.
Gyeongnam Province is making all-out efforts to complete wildfire suppression before sunset and plans to deploy 100 vehicles from the provincial wide-area firefighting team for mop-up operations.
