Gyeonggi Province Residents' Life Satisfaction Ranks First Nationwide for the First Time Since the Launch of the 8th Local Government Term

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon's approval rating for his provincial administration (positive evaluation) rose for the second consecutive month, reaching the high 50% range. Meanwhile, negative evaluations dropped from the 30% range to the 20% range. As a result, Governor Kim ranked third among the heads of 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide, following Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok and Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo.
This record marks Governor Kim's highest score since taking office in July last year as part of the 8th local government term. Notably, the life satisfaction of 14 million Gyeonggi residents ranked first among the 17 nationwide cities and provinces. This is the first time since the launch of the 8th local government term that Gyeonggi has ranked first.
According to a survey conducted by Realmeter from the 22nd of last month to the 1st of this month targeting 17,000 people aged 18 and over nationwide on the regional 'February Metropolitan Government Heads Job Performance Approval,' Governor Kim Dong-yeon's approval rating for February was 58.4%, ranking third. This is a 2.1 percentage point increase from 56.3% the previous month, marking a two-month consecutive rise. 'Very well' accounted for 31.8%, and 'somewhat well' was 26.5%. Governor Kim's positive evaluation is 4.9 percentage points higher than the national average of 53.5%.
On the other hand, negative evaluations stood at 24.5%, down 4.5 percentage points from 29.0% the previous month. 'Very poorly' was 10.6%, and 'somewhat poorly' was 13.8%.
In this evaluation, Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok ranked first with 67.9%. Second place went to Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo with 64.5%.

Among the three metropolitan area heads, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon ranked 13th, and Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok ranked 16th, placing them near the bottom.
A provincial official stated, "Governor Kim Dong-yeon's administrative performance has been highly evaluated over time since his inauguration last year," adding, "If this trend continues, it is expected that Governor Kim will soon rank first among metropolitan area heads."
Meanwhile, the life satisfaction of Gyeonggi residents was 69.1%, which is 9.8 percentage points higher than the national average of 59.3%. It also rose 2.6 percentage points from 66.5% the previous month. Negative evaluations were 26.9%, down 1.4 percentage points from 28.3% the previous month.
The survey was conducted via random automatic telephone response calls to both landline and mobile phones, with a response rate of 4.3%. The sampling error for each metropolitan government is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
