Geochang-gun Holds Meeting to Review Comprehensive Wildfire Disaster Response System

Administrative Response Capability Check and Full Effort for Wildfire Prevention

On the 10th, Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held a meeting to inspect the total response system for wildfire disasters at the Geochang-gun Disaster Situation Room, attended by about 16 officials including the Director of Safety Construction and disaster response collaboration department officials.

The meeting was held to establish a rapid response system in case of wildfires, as the importance of wildfire response has been emphasized due to the recent continuous dry weather causing frequent wildfires in the area and consecutive large wildfires in neighboring cities and counties. The meeting reviewed the duties and roles of departments at each disaster stage, as well as measures and response plans.


Governor Gu In-mo stated, “In accordance with the special wildfire prevention directive, we are making every effort to prevent and respond to wildfires, and we ask the residents to join us in wildfire prevention by refraining from burning activities and learning how to properly dispose of wood boiler residues.” He added, “We have established a ‘Spring Wildfire Special Measures’ plan, mobilizing all administrative power for a safe Geochang-gun from wildfires, including emergency duty for officials, strengthening patrol activities of wildfire watchers, wildfire prevention campaigns, and public announcements for wildfire prevention.”
