Opposition to Police Bureau by Ryu Sam-yeong 'Suspension of Suspension Effect'... National Police Agency "Legitimacy Will Be Clarified"

Amid the suspension of the three-month disciplinary action against Chief Superintendent Ryu Sam-yeong, who led opposition to the Police Bureau, by a court decision, the National Police Agency stated that the legitimacy of the disciplinary action will be clarified in the future.

Earlier, the Seoul Administrative Court accepted Chief Superintendent Ryu's request for a suspension of execution against the National Police Agency Commissioner, asking to halt the effect of the three-month suspension. With this provisional injunction, the disciplinary action of a three-month suspension imposed on Chief Superintendent Ryu will be suspended until 30 days after the first trial ruling on the cancellation lawsuit of the disciplinary action is announced.

The court ruled that although Chief Superintendent Ryu would suffer damage by being unable to perform his duties for three months due to the disciplinary action, since monetary compensation is impossible and considering the nature and extent of the damage, there is an urgent need to prevent it. Furthermore, as there is room for dispute regarding the illegality of the disciplinary action, the court interpreted that it is necessary to judge the main case contesting this.

In response, the National Police Agency, through a statement, expressed respect for the court's intention that the execution of the disciplinary action should be suspended until the main judgment is delivered, and expressed hope that the legitimacy of the disciplinary action will be clarified in the main lawsuit.
