Seodaemun-gu Selected as an ‘Excellent Institution for Proactive Administration’ in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Evaluation
Received High Praise in Public Evaluation and Civil Servant Awareness, Ranking 2nd Among Seoul’s Autonomous Districts
Government Conducted the First Independent Evaluation of ‘Proactive Administration,’ Previously an Indicator in Local Government Innovation Evaluation
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Sung-heon) announced on the 10th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2022 Local Government Proactive Administration Comprehensive Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This evaluation was conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety targeting 243 metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide.
It is analyzed that the significance and reliability of this evaluation are further enhanced as the government conducted the first independent evaluation of ‘proactive administration,’ which had been one of the indicators in the ‘local government innovation evaluation.’
The evaluation panel, composed of government officials and private experts, reviewed 16 detailed indicators across five major categories including plan establishment, efforts by the head of the institution, performance of proactive administration, perceived effectiveness, and promotional efforts. Public evaluation was introduced for excellent cases.
Seodaemun-gu received high scores in all areas including public evaluation and civil servant awareness, ranking 2nd among 25 autonomous districts in Seoul and was selected as an excellent institution. Accordingly, the district will receive awards and financial incentives from the government.
Lee Sung-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “This selection is a sign that the district administration is moving in the right direction desired by residents, and we will continue to engage in proactive administration with a more transformed attitude to enhance residents’ happiness.”
Seodaemun-gu has recently received consecutive good evaluations from the government, including achieving a 2nd grade in the ‘Public Institution Comprehensive Integrity’ evaluation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission in January this year, improving one grade from last year.
