Deployment of Grievance Counselors... Continuing Innovation in the Public Service Sector
Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do is continuing its innovation in the public sector by appointing grievance counselors to eradicate workplace harassment and create a safe working environment where employees' personal rights are guaranteed.
According to the county on the 10th, this measure was implemented to prevent the occurrence of unfortunate incidents in advance as workplace harassment has become a major social issue.
All individuals working under contracts with the county can consult with the counselors, and the county plans to promote various programs that encourage empathy and strengthen communication among employees, such as support for new employees, well-being for those on leave, mobile counseling booths called "A Cup of Drink," and group discussions titled "I Understand Your Feelings."
A county official explained the background of the initiative, saying, "Unlike what is seen from outside, public officials are very exhausted due to high work intensity and stress. While not all problems can be solved through grievance counseling, I am confident that we can gradually find realistic alternatives and seek solutions together to improve the situation."
County Governor Woo Seung-hee stated, "This measure is expected to greatly contribute to identifying hidden organizational issues in daily life and preparing practical solutions."
He added, "To actively respond to administrative culture innovation within the public sector and physical and mental harassment in the workplace, we plan to conduct surveys on workplace harassment and operate a reporting center for prompt handling."
