Korea Investment & Securities Launches Brokerage ISA Bond Investment Service

Korea Investment & Securities, a subsidiary of Korea Financial Group, announced on the 10th that it will provide bond investment services within the brokerage-type Individual Savings Account (ISA) starting from the 13th.

Investments in government bonds, corporate bonds, subordinated bonds, and contingent convertible bonds can be made through the brokerage-type ISA. Korea Investment & Securities plans to expand its product lineup to include short-term bonds and will also introduce on-market trading functions.

The brokerage-type ISA is a tax-advantaged account that allows diversified investments in various financial products such as domestic listed stocks and funds. Dividend and interest income up to KRW 2 million (KRW 4 million for the basic type) are exempt from tax. Amounts exceeding the tax-exempt limit are subject to a separate tax rate of 9.9% and are not included in comprehensive financial income taxation, making it advantageous for tax savings.

Benefits for bond investors will also be expanded. A new ‘MoneyUP’ menu will be added to the investment information content service ‘M.ZIP’ on the Korea Investment app, regularly introducing popular bond product lineups. From the 13th until the end of this month, customers who newly open a Bankis brokerage-type ISA and deposit more than KRW 100,000 will receive a coffee coupon, and those who net purchase more than KRW 1 million in domestic over-the-counter bonds through the account will be given a KRW 5,000 Shinsegae Department Store mobile gift certificate.

Kim Seong-hwan, Head of the Individual Customer Group, said, "Interest in bond investments has increased during the period of rising interest rates," adding, "We expect customers to enjoy broad tax benefits." He continued, "We plan to focus on supplying competitive bond products and expanding customers’ investment options."
