"School Violence Is the Law of Nature" Shocking Remark by Health YouTuber Draws Backlash

"Due to Increased Aggression Caused by Male Hormones"

A health YouTuber is facing backlash from netizens after making remarks suggesting that school violence occurs due to an increase in hormones.

Ikoci, who runs the YouTube channel 'Hunsu Duneun Ikoci OnlinePT' with about 30,000 subscribers, uploaded a video titled 'JigiTV School Violence? Drunk Driving?' on the 6th.

In the video, Ikoci mentioned JigiTV, a YouTuber with 800,000 subscribers who recently suspended activities due to issues related to drunk driving and school violence.

Ikoci stated, "Personally, I don't see Jigi that badly," and added, "Honestly, during our school days, when male hormones surge during middle school, if a boy thinks 'I have a certain amount of strength,' there are very few boys who would go around without bullying others."

He continued, "It's inevitable because hormones carry aggression. When secondary sexual characteristics develop, male hormones increase explosively, so boys naturally become much more aggressive. In a way, it's the law of nature," he emphasized.

He then said, "Well... regarding those incidents in childhood, of course, it's not a good thing, and school violence perpetrators are not good people, but I don't think it's right to completely ruin a person over an incident that happened during the time hormones were raging."

Ikoci also said, "If I say this, others might say, 'Would you say this if your child had been a victim of school violence?' Of course, if I were the victim, I would go and take revenge."

At the same time, he reflected, "But since I also teased other kids a lot during my school days, do I really have the right to point fingers at someone like Jigi? I don't think I have that right."

Finally, Ikoci added, "So, when social issues arise, I look back on myself and think, 'Can I point fingers at those people?' and I say 'No,' so I have no intention of blaming them."

"If you stay still, you lose half" - Netizens' fierce criticism

Netizens who watched the video criticized Ikoci with comments such as, "School violence occurs regardless of gender and is not about bullying because someone is strong," "Understanding school violence as a hormonal influence," "Illegal acts are not justified just because 'male hormones were high during childhood,'" "If you stay still, you lose half," and "If you just release hormones as they come out, you're an animal. Are you human?"

In response, Ikoci clarified, "Of course, school violence cannot be justified by male hormones or anything like that. I have two sons. Although I did not commit school violence during my school days, I was one of the many bystanders who watched and laughed, so I meant that I cannot blame them."
