LG Uplus Signs MOU with BigWave Robotics to Strengthen Robot Business

LG Uplus announced on the 9th that it will strengthen its robotics business by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bigwave Robotics, an operator of a robot automation platform.

'Marosol (My Robot Solution),' operated by Bigwave Robotics, is a platform that recommends optimal robot solutions tailored to customers' situations and environments, and it has established partnerships with over 400 supplier companies. On this platform, customers upload videos of the processes they wish to automate, and a database of more than 3,000 automation cases analyzes successful, failed, and delayed scenarios to match the best supplier companies, minimizing inefficient costs and communication. Bigwave Robotics plans to discover new customers through the network LG Uplus has built via various solution businesses.

Through this MOU, LG Uplus will provide seamless LTE and 5G communication-based service robots without coverage gaps throughout stores and industrial sites. Bigwave Robotics will introduce LG Uplus products to new customers through Marosol’s AI analysis. Additionally, the two companies will jointly develop related robot solutions through pilot projects for new business models. They will collaborate on all aspects needed for customers to adopt service robots, including consulting, pilot operation, installation, and maintenance, aiming to expand their market share in the robotics sector.

The two companies will exhibit logistics robots at the '2023 Smart Factory & Automation Industry Exhibition' held at COEX from the 8th to the 10th. These autonomous logistics robots can transport items ranging from lightweight goods to heavy loads up to 90kg, and they do not require separate magnetic lines or barcodes, allowing flexible application in various logistics environments. To reduce customers’ initial adoption burdens, the companies plan to offer reasonably priced logistics robot solution packages and installment programs.

The MOU signing ceremony held at LG Uplus’s Yongsan headquarters was attended by key executives, including Janghyuk Lim, Head of LG Uplus Corporate New Business Group (Executive Vice President), and Minkyo Kim, CEO of Bigwave Robotics.

Since entering the robotics business in November last year, LG Uplus decided on this collaboration to quickly secure capabilities necessary for the service robot business?such as customer consulting, pilot operation, installation, and maintenance?by leveraging Bigwave Robotics’ accumulated customer experience and know-how. The partnership aims to supply various robot solutions to small office/home office (SOHO) customers, smart factories, schools, and public institutions.
