On the 8th, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will form a comprehensive task force (TF) to prevent recurrence in relation to the personal information leak of the National Joint Academic Achievement Evaluation and establish detailed plans.
The task force will include external experts for technical advice and plans to devise recurrence prevention measures focusing on a full-scale investigation and security consulting.
The investigation will target all information systems operated by the Office of Education, requesting consulting from an external specialized agency to identify security vulnerabilities and derive improvement measures, which will be reflected in the detailed implementation plan.
A representative from the Office of Education stated, "Based on the consulting results, we will prepare measures by reviewing various options such as securing the stability of the information protection system, expanding the organization responsible for information protection, and conducting recurrence prevention education."
Earlier, on the early morning of the 19th of last month, when a post appeared on an online community claiming, "I hacked the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education server and checked the scores of the National Joint Academic Achievement Evaluation held last November," the Office requested a police investigation.
Meanwhile, the police have apprehended the person who first posted on the online community about the leak of the test score data of examinees from the National Joint Academic Achievement Evaluation held last November. However, it has not been confirmed whether this individual is the original source of the leaked score sheets.
