'Maternity Leave' Park In-bi and Caddy Bicher's Fantastic Harmony
Daniel Kang (USA) has a new caddie.
Daniel Kang (right) is working with Brad Beecher, Inbee Park's former caddie who has been on maternity leave since this year.
He is Brad Becher (Australia), who carried the caddie bag for the 'Golf Queen' Inbee Park for the past 15 years. Daniel Kang showed great chemistry with Becher at the LPGA Tour HSBC Women's World Championship, which ended in Singapore on the 5th. He shot 4-under par on the final day to finish tied for 3rd, his best result of the season, earning $98,097 (about 120 million KRW). Daniel Kang finished tied for 12th at the season opener Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in January and tied for 38th at the Honda LPGA Thailand last month.
Daniel Kang is a Korean-American who debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2012 and has won a total of six tournaments, including one major. He is well known on tour as a close friend of Inbee Park. Kang expressed his desire to hire Becher as his caddie while Park was on maternity leave, and received an 'OK' from Park. It is reported that Kang frequently calls Park to gather information about Becher.
Becher has carried Park's caddie bag since she won the 2008 U.S. Women's Open. He has been her partner through Park's career Grand Slam and career Golden Slam. Becher played a major role in Park's total of 21 wins, including seven majors, and her gold medal victory at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Thanks to Park, he wore the green jacket, a privilege reserved for caddies of world number one players, while on the course. The American golf media outlet Golfweek even named the Park-Becher duo as one of the most successful player-caddie partnerships in LPGA Tour history.
