Conducting On-site Education in 17 Cities and Provinces by Year-end
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 7th that starting this month, it will actively conduct 'on-site visiting training' for disaster management agencies (central government, local governments, etc.), emergency rescue agencies (Fire Agency, etc.), and emergency rescue support agencies (medical institutions, etc.) to enable rapid response using the disaster safety communication network at disaster sites.
The disaster safety communication network is a nationwide unified wireless communication network that integrates communication networks of disaster-related agencies such as police, fire, and coast guard, allowing for rapid and accurate communication in the event of a disaster.
The 'on-site visiting training' is scheduled to be conducted at least twice in each of the 17 metropolitan cities and provinces by the end of this year, and additional visits will be made upon request from agencies.
Last month, the first training was held in Sejong Special Self-Governing City, and this month (March), it is planned to be conducted sequentially in Busan Metropolitan City, Seoul Special City, and Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Cho Sang-myeong, Director of the Safety Policy Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated, “In light of the recent Itaewon tragedy, the importance of inter-agency mutual communication using the disaster safety communication network has been highlighted. We will strengthen on-site training to help disaster safety-related agency personnel improve their utilization of the disaster safety communication network.”
