The Gyeongbuk Election Commission announced on the 6th that it has reported candidates who provided cash to cooperative members to the police ahead of the 3rd Nationwide Simultaneous Cooperative Head Elections.


Candidate A, running in Gyeongsan, was reported to the Gyeongsan Police Station on charges of providing 400,000 KRW, 200,000 KRW per person, to two cooperative members.


In Yeongyang County, B, an acquaintance of a candidate, was reported along with C, a cooperative member, to the Yeongyang Police Station on charges including providing 200,000 KRW, 100,000 KRW each to two cooperative members to assist the candidate. The Yeongyang County Election Commission's crackdown team recognized B's illegal act on site and submitted footage of the scene to the police.


The Gyeongbuk Election Commission stated that it will thoroughly investigate and strictly take action against violations such as providing money or goods even after the election day of the 3rd Simultaneous Cooperative Head Elections, and that a fine of up to 30 million KRW will be imposed if money or goods are received. They also urged cooperative members to actively report any violations.
