The Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters is focusing on strengthening the investigative capabilities and job expertise of the Fire Special Judicial Police.
Jeonbuk Fire announced on the 6th that it conducted the "2023 First Half Special Judicial Police Investigation Practical Training."
This training was conducted for 40 special judicial police officers from 13 fire stations, aiming to share knowledge and experience according to specialized work areas and to enhance the investigative job competencies of the special judicial police.
The Fire Special Judicial Police consist of fire officials responsible for investigating fire-related laws such as the Fire Services Act and the Act on the Prevention of Fire and Safety Management. Currently, 99 officers are active at the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters.
For this training, instructor Lee Won-tae, a former professor of the Special Judicial Police at the National Judicial Research and Training Institute and former head of the investigation division at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, was invited to provide professional education through real cases, covering the basic investigative system of the special judicial police, key contents of fire-related laws, on-site investigation methods, and investigation cases.
So Cheol-hwan, head of the Fire Inspection Division, said, "We will continuously promote training so that those in charge of the Fire Special Judicial Police can improve their investigative abilities regarding violations related to fire activities such as fire, rescue, emergency medical services, obstruction of fire activities, and negligence in maintaining fire facilities under fire laws."
Meanwhile, the Special Judicial Police system is a system that grants investigative authority to general public officials with expertise in fields requiring specialization, allowing them to investigate under the direction of prosecutors and then transfer cases to the prosecution. The Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters Fire Special Judicial Police transferred 61 cases related to violations of fire laws to the prosecution last year.
