National Gwangju Science Museum-GIST to Host 'March Science School'

The National Gwangju Science Museum will jointly hold the March Science School with Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) on the 15th.


This lecture, titled "How to Use Clean Electricity," will invite Professor Kim Yoon-soo from the GIST Graduate School of Energy Convergence to explore the basic concepts and operation of power systems aimed at balancing the production and consumption of electrical energy, as well as the reasons why electricity prices vary significantly over time.

Professor Kim earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Seoul National University. He has served as a director of the Korean Society of New and Renewable Energy and as an editorial board member for the power technology section of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers. He is currently a professor at the GIST Graduate School of Energy Convergence.


This year, he was appointed as an editorial board member of IEEE TSTE (Transactions on Sustainable Energy), a leading journal in the field of renewable energy worldwide.


His main research areas include virtual power plant modeling, applications of artificial intelligence technology in the power sector, and development of energy optimal management technologies.


The 2023 Science School allows on-site admission after online pre-registration on a first-come, first-served basis for 150 participants, and anyone from children to adults can participate free of charge.


Various events will also be held.


Participants who collect four or more stamps, which can be received once a month, will receive special gifts, and those who leave reviews with photos on the science museum’s website after the event will receive mobile coupons.


The National Gwangju Science Museum and GIST have been hosting the "Science School" every third Wednesday evening of the month, gaining great popularity as a regular lecture series that delivers diverse scientific knowledge to help people easily understand difficult science.
